Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund

Our Story

Inspired by Chanie’s story and Gord’s call to build a better Canada, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Our goal is to improve the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all peoples in Canada.

Places We’ve Lived: Land, Story, and Spirit

A Monthly Storytelling & Land Acknowledgement Series

Starting Fall 2025, Places We’ve Lived invites ESG congregants to share 3–5 minute reflections on places they’ve lived or loved- acknowledging the Indigenous Peoples of those lands and sharing personal stories of learning, change, and connection.

This initiative is part of ESG’s commitment to reconciliation, radical
inclusion, and vibrant spirituality. It’s about truth-telling, not
comfort- honouring Indigenous stories and the lands that shape us. Reflections will be shared monthly during worship, and optionally online. Support and coaching will be available.
