Kate Littler will lead this activity for children and caregivers during our online Love aLIVE event May 29th at 5 pm.

Listen to the story: Into My Mother’s Arms by Sharon Jennings. This lovely picture book shows a trusting relationship between a mother and a daughter. We will trace our hands to make a special card to share.

Little Hands Holding Heart Card

Materials:

  • Construction paper or regular white paper
  • Markers/Crayon/Pencil Crayons
  • Glue Stick
  • Scissors
  • Stickers (optional)
  • Pencil

Step-By-Step
1. Fold a piece of paper in half then take your child’s left hand and place the wrist on the bottom     edge of the seam.
2. Outline your child’s hand using a pencil.
3. Cut out the stencil of the fingers but make sure to leave the seam intact where the wrist meats the palm. This will ensure the hands stay together.
4. Have your child decorate the card by adding painted fingernails, rings, etc.
5. To make the inside heart, fold a piece of paper in half. Along the seam draw half a heart, then cut it out and unfold to get a full heart.
6. Glue the heart to the inside of the hands, matching the two up with the seams.
7. Kids can write a personal message to you.
