There is something quietly powerful about growing food. It connects us to the earth, to the rhythm of the seasons, and to one another.
At Eglinton St. George’s United Church, our community garden is more than a place where things grow — it’s a place where people grow too. Whether you’re pulling weeds alongside a neighbour, watching a seedling you planted push through the soil for the first time, or sharing a meal made from something you grew yourself, the garden has a way of reminding us what it means to be in community.
We believe that access to fresh food and the joy of growing it should be available to everyone. That’s why we offer two ways to get involved — a plot right here at the church, or a raised bed delivered to your own doorstep. Wherever you are, there’s a place for you in this garden.
On-Site Plot Rental
Grow food, build community, and get your hands in the soil right here at ESG. Eglinton St. George’s United Church invites neighbours and community members to rent a raised garden plot at our on-site community garden for the growing season (mid-May to mid-November). Whether you’re an experienced grower or picking up a trowel for the first time, you’re welcome here.
What’s included:
- Your own dedicated raised garden plot (one plot per renter)
- Access to water on-site
- Weekly GROW emails with gardening tips and support
- Invitations to community events, potlucks, and gardening workshops throughout the season
Cost: $100–$150 for the season on a sliding scale. We want gardening to be accessible; if cost is a barrier, reach out, and we’ll work something out.
Renting a plot is more than just getting garden space, it’s joining a community. Renters are asked to participate in at least some of our community events held at the garden throughout the season.
Deadline to Register: May 15, 2026

Remote Garden Box Program
Want a community garden experience right outside your front door? Can’t make it to the church garden? ESG’s Remote Garden Plot Program brings the garden to you. We deliver a raised cedar garden bed (2×4 ft, with other sizes accommodated depending on your space) to your home, install it, fill it with soil, and provide a selection of seedlings. All you have to do is plant and tend.
What’s included:
- Delivered, installed raised cedar bed filled with soil and starter seedlings
- Weekly gardening support emails with practical advice
- Access to bi-weekly gardening workshops starting in June
- Invitations to community gardener gatherings throughout the season
- Expert support from ESG’s Community Garden Coordinator
Cost: $195 for the season. You can also purchase a plot as a gift for someone else (anonymously or directly).
As part of the program, participants are invited (but not required) to donate 25% of their harvest to someone experiencing food insecurity; whether that’s ESG’s Little Free Pantry, a local food bank, or a neighbour in need.
Deadline to register:
April 20, 2026. Contact Daevyd at programsupport@esgunited.org to sign up or learn more.
