Justin Welsh

British Columbia native, Justin Welsh has been on the performing circuit all across Canada and abroad.

He has performed recently as Crown in Porgy and Bess with Kent Nagano conducting l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. He also has performed Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, Guglielmo in Così Fan Tutte, Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart and Reverent Blitch in Susanna and Queegueg in the Canadian premiere of Moby Dick for Calgary Opera which was another career highlight.   He was recently on the operatic stage performing Papageno in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart with Pacific Opera Victoria and Marcello in La Boheme by Puccini with L’Opera de Montreal.  He is connected with the Trinidad Opera Festival Picoplat and returned for Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffman.   With Against the Grain Theatre in Toronto, he took part in the initial re-imagining of La Boheme by G. Puccini playing the role of Marcello and is part of their new work #Bound, which had it’s premiere this last December.

             Along side operatic roles, Justin has performed a fair share of oratorio works such as Messiah for the Winnipeg, Victoria and Regina symphonies, Fauré’s Requiem with Choeur St. Laurent, Matthew Passions with the Guelph Chamber Choir and Grand Philharmonic Choir, Beethoven’s Mass in C and Bach’s Magnificat with the Regina Philharmonic Chorus and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Niagara Symphony.

             Recently, Justin has been working off stage as a Canada Post carrier where through difficult times, does videos of uplifting songs to all and is nicknamed the “Canadian Singing Postie”.
