Brian D. McLaren is an author, activist, theological questioner, and guest lecturer for audiences around the world. In his book “Faith after Doubt; Why your beliefs stopped working and what to do about it”, McLaren grants permission to doubt elements of the Christian faith narrative. Doubt, he argues, is an important dimension of faith and being human, and even more encouraging he sees doubt as an opportunity for honesty, courage, virtue, and growth. McLaren sees doubt as a vehicle to better understand what brings you to the Christian faith and sees the church’s inability to discuss doubt as a barrier to growth.

Each night we will read some specific passages from the book and discuss 3 questions that will be sent to you beforehand. You can actively participate, sit, and reflect on your own or simply listen in. The objective is to be open to questioning your own thoughts, consider alternatives, but most importantly being okay your internal doubt-filled musings. Clarity comes from working through good questions.
