Advent Gifts

Advent brings hope. Advent brings promise. This Advent, through ESG Outreach, you can share gifts and send hope for the season to those in our city who have little.

This year heralds an Advent season where the ancient story will be the same but the way in which we celebrate it will be vastly different the world over. What will not change however, will be the needs of the many who struggled with food and housing insecurity before the Pandemic and those who, for the first time find themselves in a situation they believed could never happen. ESG Outreach, with your help, is committed to maintaining our level of support for our partner agencies: The Massey Centre, Fred Victor 24/7 Women’s Drop In, Street Health and Toronto Urban Native Ministry. Each agency is experiencing levels of demand for services that far exceed their means on a staffing and financial level. This Advent season, our goal is to raise $5000 in donations in support of our partner agencies.

How to give:

Monetary donations for our Advent Gifts campaign may be sent by cheque to ESG (no cash please). Please mark your cheque ESG Advent on the memo line. You can also donate online through Canada Helps here. ( choose ESG Outreach Advent Gifts from the dropdown menu).
The deadline for all donations is December 6th. This will allow us to send funds to our partner agencies and distribute the coats to the shelters and agencies requesting them, well in advance of Christmas.

Winter Coat Drive

ESG is also partnering with local United Churches in our cluster to collect winter coats, new or gently used, sizes M – XL for men and women. We are appealing to all to consider donating a winter coat you may not wear anymore or purchasing a serviceable, reasonably priced warm winter coat (Value Village has many gently used winter coats). We hope we can collect 100 winter coats over two days!

Can we do this? Yes, we can and we can do it safely too!

The Outreach Team will be at the Church for you to safely drop off your coat donation in a clear plastic bag in the bin that will be placed at the front doors.

Drop off dates: Wednesday Dec 2 from 1pm – 8 pm and Friday Dec 4 from 9 am – 3 pm.

We are offering porch pick up for those who do not wish to venture out. If you would prefer this option please contact either Connie Roden or Maggie WilkinsonAn arrangement can be made to pick up your donation from your porch or lobby.
